Vancouver Canadians make the comeback to split the series against the Everett Aquasox

The Vancouver Canadians were coming off an eventful beginning of summer break homestand, where they split the series against the Eugene Emeralds. Despite the split they had a number of big moments throughout the week. The first was celebrating Canada Day with fireworks, Thursday’s game was rained out and was meant to be their Women in Sports night which was made up for on Sunday. Friday was a double-header, where Max Scherzer was the starting pitcher in game 1. 

This week the Canadians faced off against the Everett Aquasox where again the week was filled with celebrations to keep on with the 75th Anniversary of The Nat. Tuesday fans were able to collect the Short-A Pennant. While Saturday was full of fans showing up for Blue Jays day where former Blue Jays player Kevin Pillar threw out the first pitch and signed autographs. 

Tuesday’s game was action packed from the start with the Canadians scoring 3 runs in the first inning. They would go on to score another 5 runs in the second with Alex Stone hitting a home run. Sam Shaw hitting a 2 run home run, and Peyton Willams also hitting a 2 run home run. 

Neither team would score in the third, but the Aquasox got their first run of the game off a home run. The Canadians secured their ninth run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. 

In the sixth inning the Aquasox began to make their comeback scoring 2 runs, followed by another 2 in the seventh. The Canadians scored their tenth and final run also in the seventh. 

The Aquasox scored another 2 runs in the eighth which would be the final runs of the game. Leading to a 10-7 win for the Canadians to start this homestand. 

The Aquasox would go on a 3 game win streak against the Canadians winning 7-1 on Wednesday, 7-4 on Thursday and 4-3 on Friday after a grand slam brought them back into the game. 

The Canadians looked for the win on Blue Jays game, but the Aquasox would strike early in the first with a run scored. The Canadians tied the game in the bottom of the third. 

Both teams secured runs in the fourth, the Canadians pulled ahead by a run in the fifth, putting the game 3-2. However, the Aquasox locked in in the sixth, scoring 4 runs, 1 solo run and a 3 run home run. Pulling the Aquasox ahead 6-3.

The Canadians did secure a run in the sixth as well with a sacrifice fly to centre. Both teams would go without runs in the seventh. But the Canadians came back in the eighth pulling ahead by a single run after an error was made trying to secure a double play. 

The Canadians got the 7-6 win, putting the series 3-2 for the Aquasox. The Canadians entered Sunday's game with the hope of securing the final win to tie the series. The Canadians would make another comeback on Sunday to secure a 9-8 win. The series ended 3-3. 

The Vancouver Canadians are back at Nat Bailey Stadium again on July 28, at 7pm, PST, where they take on the Spokane Indians.
