Vancouver Canadians secure series win over Tri-City Dust Devils
August 11 the Vancouver Canadians returned to Nat Bailey Stadium to take on the Tri-City Dust Devils. The Canadians were coming off a series win against the Everett Aquasox and looked to go 2 for 2.
There were a number of roster changes as players got promoted. One new addition to the Canadians lineup was Jojo Parker. He is currently ranked #27 overall for MLB prospects and looked to make an impact with the Canadians.
Game 1 of the series was slow to start with neither team being able to secure a run throughout the majority of the game. Despite hits and players getting on base both teams' defence were strong.
In the bottom of the seventh the Canadians got on the board with a single run. The second and final run of the game would come in the bottom of the eighth. Securing a Canadians win to start the series.
The Canadians continued their win streak securing a 6-3 victory in game 2, and a 14-4 win in game 3. Game 3 saw a lot of action, one major moment was Max Viera hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth. However, the Dust Devils wouldn’t be counted out just yet and came back in game 4 with a 5-4 win.
Game 5 the Canadians looked to keep the series lead, while the Dust Devils looked for a back to back win.
The Canadians got on the board first in the bottom of the second with 2 runs scored. The Dust Devils started to close the gap in the top of the third with a single run. However, Maddox Latta would hit a home run in the bottom of the third to put the Canadians up by 2.
Action was slow in the third, but the Canadians would secure a single run in both the bottom of the fourth and bottom of the fifth, to put the game 5-1.
The Dust Devils scored their second run of the night in the top of the seventh. By the top of the ninth with 2 out it looked like the game was done, however, the Dust Devils attempted to rally back, securing a run and multiple players on base. Despite their best efforts the Canadians were able to hold the off and won 5-3.
Game 6 of the series would decide if the Canadians would take it 5-1 or 4-2. Throughout the game it was close, but a triple line drive in the bottom of the eighth pulled the Canadians ahead to secure a 4-2 victory.
The Canadians won their second series in a row with a 5-1 victory. They will be back at Nat Bailey Stadium for their final homestand of the season on August 25 where they will be giving out Trey Yesavage bobble heads and continue the final hurrah in the 75th anniversary of The Nat.
